Deleting is permanent

You can delete your xowxow account and its data yourself, at any time, without asking us. Deletion happens immediately. There is no grace period, no hidden archive, and no way for us to bring an account back once it is gone — not even if you ask us the next day. If you only want a break, turn your Xoxo box off and stop rating instead; your account will simply sit there.

How to delete your account in the app

1. Sign in at xowxow.club (or open the app).
2. Go to My profile.
3. Scroll to the very bottom and tap Delete my account.
4. Read what will be deleted, type DELETE to confirm, and tap the red button.

You will be signed out straight away and your data is gone by the time the page reloads.

What is deleted

Everything tied to your account is removed from our live systems immediately:

• Your login: email address and password.
• Your profile: display name, username, birth year, city, Instagram handle, language preference, school-verification status, and your answers to the profile prompts.
• Your photos: both the database records and the image files themselves.
• Ratings: every rating you gave, and every rating other people gave your photos.
• Your score, streak, badges and quest progress.
• Matches and blocks. Anyone you matched with stops seeing you.
• Xoxos: the anonymous notes you received, and the ones you sent — a note you wrote is your own words, so it disappears from the other person's inbox too.
• Notification subscriptions for every device you turned push on for.
• Waitlist entry, if your email was ever on our waiting list.

What we keep, and for how long

Three small things survive, and none of them identify you to anyone:

• A minimal deletion record — an internal account identifier, the date, and how many rows were removed. It contains no name, no email and no photo, and exists so we can prove a deletion request was honoured. Kept indefinitely as a security record.
• Reports you filed about someone else— the report itself stays in the moderation queue but the link to you is erased, so an open safety case about another user doesn't vanish when you leave.
• Routine encrypted backups held by our hosting providers, which are overwritten automatically on a rolling cycle of no more than 30 days. We never restore a deleted account from them.

Anonymised aggregate figures (for example, the total number of ratings ever cast) carry no link to you and may be kept indefinitely. Where a law requires us to keep a specific record — payment and tax records, for example — we keep only what that law requires, for only as long as it requires.

If you can't sign in

If you have lost access to your account, first try resetting your password. If that isn't possible, email privacy@xowxow.club from the address on the accountand ask us to delete it. We will confirm it is your account before deleting anything, and we will respond within 15 days, as required by Brazil's LGPD.

You do not need the app installed to make this request, and you do not need an account to read this page.
